BMW E39 ECU

May be some people don’t know where E39 ECU (Electronic Control Unit) is located. I had the same problem first time when I’ve tried to locate it J I knew that BMW ECU is somewhere in the engine compartment, but where. After careful research I found it under the passengers’ air filter plastic box. If you are planning to uninstall your BMW ECU you must know some basic things:

- Remove battery negative cable before doing any work on your BMW ECU.

- Remove air filter box on the passenger side. Be careful with the plastic clips because they can be easily broken.

- Remove your BMW ECU.

Now you can change it, repair it or in the happiest case – upgrade it with new tuning software which will give you additional horse power and Nm.
